Mykola Katerynchuk: Changes to the Constitution from “the regionals” – the beginning of the Election Campaign
Yesterday the Party of Regions presented its Draft Changes to the Constitution of Ukraine.
On this occasion the leader of the European Party of Ukraine, the People’s Deputy of Ukraine Mykola Katerynchuk noted: “Such step of the Party of Regions and the offered Draft Changes to the Constitution of Ukraine in fact is the preparation stage to the Election Campaign which for sure will take place in autumn this year. But the Constitution of Ukraine cannot be a part of political dissensions which humiliate its role and status.”
“The European Party of Ukraine considers unacceptable changes to the Constitution of Ukraine concerning implementation of another state language besides Ukrainian”, - he stressed.
Mykola Katerynchuk’s considers “the essence of the future changes to the Principal Law first of all should contain advancement of the human rights of the citizens promoting their direct participation in the state governing and influence on nation-wide political processes”.
“Due to this reason today there exists real necessity to introduce changes to electoral legislature in the part of holding elections to local self-government bodies on the territorial principle, legal support of local referenda on the community initiative, elections of the city mayors in two rounds. I am sure that such approach to the constitutional reform implementation will give the opportunity to knockdown political irresponsibility of the politicians for their actions”, - Mykola Katerynchuk added.
